Target Market Determination

What is a Target Market Determination?

Target Market Determination (TMD) is a document that outlines who a financial product is suitable for, based on their likely needs, objectives, and financial situation. It also sets out how the product can be distributed and the circumstances in which we may need to review it.

The purpose of a TMD is to ensure that financial products are offered responsibly and meet the needs of the intended market. It helps to maintain transparency and accountability in financial services while protecting consumers from obtaining products that may not be suitable for them.

Why Does AFS Need a TMD?

At AFS, we are committed to responsible lending and ensuring that our loan products are offered to the right customers. Having a Target Market Determination allows us to:

  • Clearly define the customers for whom our loan products are most appropriate
  • Ensure our loans align with customers' financial needs and circumstances
  • Provide guidance to brokers and distributors on how our products should be offered
  • Regularly review and refine our products to maintain compliance with ASIC's Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO)

Our TMDs are designed to promote transparency and ensure our lending practices meet the highest standards. If you'd like to view the Target Market Determination, please click below.
